Alex Palombo grew up in the beautiful sailing town of Newport
RI. It was growing up there that he developed his appreciation of beautiful
locations, positive and relaxed living, and a passion for the classic elegant
style of the gilded age.
Always being creative, he found his calling in the form of photography, through
his high school creative media class. Pursuing his newfound passion, he enrolled
at the Art Institute of Boston where after four years he received his Bachelor
of Fine Arts Degree in Photography.
In 2003 after living in Boston and Los Angeles, respectively, Alex moved to New
York City to pursue fashion photography. In the ensuing years he began
developing his own photographic style. This style, based on how he lives his
life, consists of connecting with all the people involved in the creative
process from the subject to the editors and everyone else in between. The result
of this is a problem free shoot culminating in an amazing set of images.
Alex’s
emphasis has always been to make beautiful images in collaboration with the
client, while at the same time, providing an enjoyable atmosphere for all
involved. Commonly heard responses from his shoots are that expectations were
exceeded and an expression of how great and easy it was to work with him.
While living in New York, Alex has had the opportunity to gain experience
working with many well known photographers such as Patric Shaw, Thomas Schenk,
Craig McDean, Tim Geaney, Roberto Dutesco, Robert Wyatt, and Taryn Simon.
Further, he had the opportunity to gain studio experience working in Milk,
Industria, and Sun Studios, and also maintains excellent relationships with
local rental houses.
Alex’s collaborations have included photographing for Rockwell Apparel, Bernette
Textiles Company, and Joy vs. Happiness clothing companies and corporate
companies such as Epson, Canaras Investments and Investco Corporation. His
editorial work has appeared in mainstream publications such as DNA Magazine and
Forum Magazine as well as shooting for modeling agencies such as Elite, Vision,
Major, and Click.
Alex also has collaborated with various producers and art
directors for Polo Ralph Lauren, Stone Island Clothing, and CP Company as well
as many publications including Glamour, W, and Seventeen. In addition his work
appears in a book of photographic collaborations of various photographers titled
“Endless Journeys”.
Whenever possible Alex donates his time to shooting charity work. He is
especially proud to shoot the annual fundraiser for Youth at Risk, a program for
underprivileged teens at risk for negative lifestyle choices. The program
provides financial, mental, and educational support helping teens be a positive
role model for other at risk teens.
In his free time Alex can most often be found outside usually near as much green
or blue as possible. He enjoys anything active from a pick-up game of football
to sailing, swing dancing to tap, and most recently snowboarding. He currently
lives in Manhattan and is always trying to get people to visit.
